Subpulse Modulation in PSR B 0320 + 39

We report on an analysis of the drifting subpulses of PSR B0320+39 that indicates a sudden step of ∼ 180 degrees in subpulse phase near the centre of the pulse profile. The phase step, in combination with the attenuation of the periodic subpulse modulation at pulse longitudes near the step, suggests that the patterns arise from the addition of two superposed components of nearly opposite drift ...

The absolute CR-flux from 50 TeV to 15 PeV

The all particle energy spectrum at energies > 50 TeV is measured using the lateral distributions of electrons, muons and Cherenkov photons. The data are from the HEGRA airshower array at ORM, La Palma. The energy spectrum is obtained using a regularised unfolding of the data on the basis of the Monte Carlo code CORSIKA. Different model inputs allow an estimate of systematic uncertainties. The ...

Heat Flux Modulation in Domino Dynamo Model

Using the domino dynamo model, we show how specific axisymmetric and equatorial symmetric forms of the heat flux variations at the core-mantle boundary change the frequency of the geomagnetic field reversals. In fact, we are able to demonstrate the effect known from the modern 3D planetary dynamo models using an ensemble of interacting spins, which obey equations of the Langevin type with a ran...

Measurements of Flux Limits for TeV Emission from AGNs

The University of Durham Mark 6 Telescope has been used to make observations of a number of AGNs visible from the Southern Hemisphere. Results are presented for limits to VHE gamma ray emission from 1ES 0323+022, PKS 0829+046, 1ES 1101–232, Cen A, PKS 1514–24, RXJ 10578–275 and 1ES 2316–423, both for steady emission and for outbursts on timescales of ∼ 1 day.

Hadronic model for radio - to - TeV γ - ray emission from PSR B 1259

We discuss the implications of the recent Xray and TeV γ-ray observations of the PSR B1259–63 system (a young rotation powered pulsar orbiting a Be star) for the theoretical models of interaction of pulsar and stellar winds. We show that previously considered models in which the pulsar wind is purely electron loaded have problems to account for the observed behaviour of the system in the TeV an...
